First-Year Students

2020欧洲杯正规平台Mines seeks to build its community with incoming students that exemplify intellectual curiosity, academic promise and a diverse range of interests and backgrounds. Each fall, we welcome approximately 1,200 new Orediggers with these qualities to our campus.

Your application will be carefully reviewed and evaluated on the basis of its merits and in the context of the strengths of the applicant pool.

The 2020 First-Year Admissions Application is Closed.
The 2021 First-Year Admissions Application Will Open in August.

First-Year Student Admissions at a Glance

2020欧洲杯正规平台You are a first-year student if you are applying directly from high school (regardless of concurrent enrollment, meaning college credits complete while in high school), have graduated from high school (and never attended college), have a GED, or have been home-schooled but have not enrolled at a college or university.

Recommended Curriculum


  • 4 units of English
  • 4 units of college-prep/advanced math
    (including trigonometry and/or pre-calculus)
  • 3 units of history or social studies
  • 3 units of lab science
    (one unit must be physics or chemistry, both if available)
  • 2 units of academic electives
    (such as computer science, STEM, engineering, or other college-prep classes, if available)
  • 1 unit of foreign language

  • Official High School Transcripts

Admissions Process


  • Step 1: Complete and submit the online application
  • Step 2: Ask your counselor to send us your official high school transcript
  • Step 3: Send us your official or self-reported ACT or SAT scores
  • Step 4: Check the status of your application and decision in your Applicant Portal

Please note: November 15 is the extended priority deadline for completed application files (application submitted and an official transcript on file). If your application file is complete by November 15, then you should expect an admissions decision sent via email before mid-December.

*A $50 International document processing fee will be assessed for students with international coursework on their transcript. For questions,email admissions@swflairish.com.

All admission decisions are final, with one exception. If you admission to the Colorado School of Mines is denied based on information you provided on your application for admission regarding your criminal history, pending criminal charges, or disciplinary history at another academic institution, you have the right to an appeal. Appeals must be in writing and should be submitted to the Associate Provost for Enrollment management at admission@swflairish.com within 14 days of receipt of the admission decision. Appeals should include all relevant information you would like the Associate Provost to consider. You will be notified of the outcome of your appeal within 14 days of receipt.
