High School Counselors

2020欧洲杯正规平台At Mines, we understand the hard work of getting in to a great school includes the love and labor of high school counselors.  We’re here to help you help your students through the college search and application process.  Below are resources to help you along the way. 

Recommended Curriculum


Thank you for helping your current students become our future students. The information below will help your students organize their curriculum in high school so they may take on the academic challenges of their first year with ease.

  • 4 units of English
  • 4 units of college-prep/advanced math
    (including trigonometry and/or pre-calculus)
  • 3 units of history or social studies
  • 3 units of lab science
    (one unit must be physics or chemistry, both if available)
  • 2 units of academic electives
    (such as computer science, STEM, engineering, or other college-prep classes, if available)
  • 1 unit of foreign language

Important Deadlines


November 1: Completed application file submission deadline
March 1: Financial aid priority deadline
May 1: National commitment day

Application File Materials


To complete an application file, the following materials are required:

  1. Completed and submitted application
  2. Self reported or official ACT and SAT scores
  3. Official high school transcript

Checking Application & Admissions Status


Upon submission of the admission application, students have access to a custom applicant portal that shows them application materials received/outstanding and test scores received.  They will also receive their decision letter in their portal and if accepted, will have access to their enrollment checklist.

Want to know the status of your student’s Mines application? Slate.org is a terrific counselor resource to keep tabs on your students and their college application status. A wide variety of colleges and universities are using it (including Mines) and it’s free!

Prospective and Admitted Student Events


2020欧洲杯正规平台Steer your students to campus and recommend they visit during one of the following events.  They’ll love the focus on research while being surrounded by the foothills in Golden.

Preview Mines (for prospective students and families): September 28 and October 26, 2019
Meet Me @ Mines (for accepted first generation students and families): November 23, 2019 and February 22, 2020
Making the Connection (for accepted women and families): November 22, 2019, March 13 and April 3, 2020
Discover Mines (for all accepted students and families): March 14 and April 4, 2020
